Walk for the Animals 2013

The Charity Sponsored Walk for the Animals was the Cat Welfare Sussex and Sussex Pet Rescue charities biggest event of the year and raised much needed funds for both organisations.

The walk took place on Sunday 8th September 2013, the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Denise Cobb, started the walk at 12 noon at Hove Lagoon and the walkers strolled to Brighton Pier and Back – about five miles.

This year was the thirteenth walk and local animal lovers were encouraged to put on their walking shoes and take to the pavements to support the cause.  Here are some of the photographs I took of the event.

The Mears PLC Football Tournament

The Mears PLC annual football tournament took place today at the University of Sussex 3G pitch; Albion in the Community coaches organised the event, and I was asked to provide a photography service.

Mears employs almost 16,000 people in every region of the U.K. They maintain, repair and upgrade the homes of hundreds of thousands of people in communities from remote rural villages to large inner-city estates.  Twelve teams of players from all over the country took part in a league and knockout format to decide the winner.

Here are the teams before the tournament got underway.

Shooting Stars

Linda and I spent a few hours snuggled up under the night sky last night, watching out for shooting stars – meteorites from the Perseid shower.

Sod’s Law clearly states that a shooting star will always appear outside of a camera’s field of view. Here’s the exception which proves the rule.

Camera set for continuous 30 sec exposures; f/8; ISO 3200; at 1:17am.

Arriving at the School Prom

When going to a school prom, it’s not just being there that matters – it’s HOW you get there that really matters!

The students at Durrington High School in West Sussex held their School Prom this evening, and Geoff Penn Photography was there to take the photos of the young ladies and gentlemen dressed in their formal finest.

We took dozens of photographs of the students, and printed and mounted them ready for them to take home.

Now, what better way to arrive than in a tank. Nobody is going to argue!

Shanice and Domonic’s Wedding

Linda and I were thrilled to be asked to take the photographs at the wedding of Shanice and Domonic in Lewes, East Sussex.

As you can see, Domonic serves in the Royal Air Force as an armourer, and was dressed in full military uniform.  He is based in Scotland, where he met Shanice.

After the ceremony, which took place in the Town Hall, the photographs were taken in the nearby Southover Grange Gardens in beautifully sunny and warm weather.

It was a real pleasure to meet Domonic, Shanice and their families and friends.
