On a Matchday….

I think that I am so lucky to be able to do the job that I do, working as one of the Club Photographers for the Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.

Here’s a few photos which provide a glimpse of some of what I get up to on a matchday at the American Express Community Stadium.

Merry Christmas!

I’d like to thank all of you – my blog followers – for taking the time to visit my blog throughout the year, and I’d like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas!

Rather than publish another photo of me in a Santa costume, (there’s too many of those around already) I thought I’d post one of my photos of the gorgeous Gully’s Girls, Brighton & Hove Albion’s cheerleaders in their Santa costumes instead.

I’m sure you will agree that they are much better looking than me!

Gully’s Girls are (left to right) Amanda, Amy, Billie, Katie, Lou, Gail, Alex, Bex, Grace, Laura, Jo, Elleesha, Hannah, April, Ree, Chloe, Tayla, and Kate.

I’ve found Fat Boy Slim’s Underpants in my Camera Bag

How’s that for a surreal blog title?  But it happens to be true!

At the Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham game on 24th October, local legend Fat Boy Slim – aka Norman Cook – proudly announced his Big Beach Boutique 5 gig on the 1st and 2nd June at the American Express Community Stadium. Rather than dishing out some grubby paper flier, the crowd were given FBS BBB5 flags announcing the event, – which were enthusiastically waved before and during the game.

The press contingent, however, weren’t issued with flags – after all, they are rather large and a bit difficult to wave when you’re trying to work. Instead, we were issued with Fat Boy Slim underpants!  I’m not quite sure of the message here, but I am sure that we will all enjoy the comfort and support they will bring.

This morning, I was packing my camera bag to photograph the BHA Women’s and Girl’s Centre of Excellence matches, only to discover my newly acquired fashion accessory in the bottom of the bag.  I thought I’d better leave them at home!

Three Photos in the Leeds United Programme

Leeds United Football Club used three of my photos in their matchday programme for their game against Cardiff City on 22nd October.

The photos were of the Leeds United matchday mascot who made the long journey south to support his team playing against Brighton at the Amex Stadium. Unfortuantely, the poor lad and his family were held up by two delays on Network Rail, and didn’t arrive in time to meet the players before the game. Nevertheless, we managed to get some good photos of him in the minutes before the game started, and sent them to Leeds.

Here’s the page in the programme…

Why do Forest Green Rovers play in red?

The Brighton & Hove Albion website carries one of my photos taken at the Reserves v Forest Green Rovers game at Lancing tonight, showing the talented George Barker scoring a penalty.

It’s not the best of photos that I’ve ever taken, but it serves its purpose as it shows Barker blasting home from ten yards.

Now, the reason why Forest Green were wearing red shirts is because – of course – it is their away kit; their normal home shirts are black and white stripes.

So, I guess it all makes sense then.

Final score: 1-1.
