A New Beginning…

After 14 years of an almost nomadic existence, my football team – Brighton & Hove Albion – played it’s first league game in the American Express Community Stadium, it’s brand new £100m home earlier today.

The joy of the occasion was almost almost indescribable, – needless to say I’ll remember the occasion for the rest of my life; it was one of those ‘lifetime snapshots’ that will linger in the mind.

I have the huge privilege of being a photographer for the club, and as such I have ‘all areas’ access.

Today, I was asked to get some shots of the team taking to the field from atop the East Stand with the huge West Stand as the background; the photo shows me taking photos of Gully’s Girls performance shortly before the teams emerged.

In the upper picture, I am the solitary figure in front of the letter ‘O’ in Community! (Click the photo!)

Below is a low res version of one of my photos.; the teams have emerged from the tunnel to the club anthem ‘Sussex By The Sea’ accompanied by a deafening roar from the 20,000+ crowd which was waving a forest of blue and white flags. Fantastic.

Published Photos

Brighton & Hove Albion Reserves won the Roy Hayden Memorial Trophy in Lancing last night, by beating Crawley Down by 4-0.

Jake Forster-Caskey and Torbjorn Agdestein each scored two goals.

My photo of  Jake appeared in the sports pages of the Brighton Argus newspaper and also on their website and another photo of Jake and Torbjorn Agdestein appeared on the Brighton & Hove Albion website.

Wedding at the Amex Community Stadium

Earlier today I was privileged to be the wedding photographer at Peter and Debbie’s Wedding, which took place at the American Express Community Stadium, the new home of the Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.

As I am a club photographer with full staff access, I could take the bridal party and the guests for photographs on the side of the pitch, into the dressing rooms and to other locations in the stadium which are not otherwise accessible or available to the public.

The food – cooked by the chef who was once John Major’s chef at No 10 Downing St – was beautifully served and enjoyed by the guests, and the stadium made an ideal location for two football fans to get married.

If you are thinking of getting married at the American Express Community Stadium, let me know! Here are some examples of my wedding photography, and my contact details are at the bottom of the screen.

Not long before it all kicks-off!

Although it only seems like a couple of weeks have passed since the end of the last football season, the teams are already back in pre-season training, and while pre-season friendly games are being played, the fans (and photographers) are looking forward to the 2011-12 season starting in a little over three weeks from now.

In this photo taken at the Brighton and Hove Albion vs Horsham pre-season match, a Horsham defender attempts to tackle (and hold!) Brighton striker Torbjorn Agdestein as he takes the the ball upfield.

Women’s Football Awards Evening

Brighton and Hove Albion has three Women’s Football Teams: the First Team, the Reserves and the Community Team. I was invited to the Teams’ Awards Presentation evening – so naturally I took my camera to photograph the proceedings. The players had signed a ‘Thank You’ card for me for taking game photos throughout the season, which was much appreciated!

Photos from the Teams’ Awards Presentation Night 2011 have been uploaded here for your viewing pleasure.

Enter the password ‘awards’ after clicking Your Photos in the menu at the top.
